S3

Music Technology

INFO

Curriculum Leader: Ms Beynon

Course Description

Music Technology explores the art and technique of sound recording. The course would meet the needs of learners who have interest in sound recording/production and may already play an instrument. Music technology draws on elements from the N4/5 music course: studying the development of recording techniques through different styles of music while also teaching students a different set of skills.

Depending on the work covered during S3 Music Technology course, it could provide an experience that also supports N4/5 Music but would not be an essential progression pathway. Students will learn to use recording software such as Ableton and will explore the differences between; Studio Recording, Live Recording and give students the opportunity to add sound effects and music to video games and animations.
