Course Content
Students will explore a variety of topics related to multiple engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical and civil engineering. They will use a combination of computer simulation, practical testing and theory to design and test engineering systems including electronic circuits, gear mechanisms and pneumatic circuits.
The course introduces multiple engineering disciplines, using a balance of mathematical and written theory, and computer simulation and testing to give students a taste of what to expect in a career in engineering.
The course is made up of 3 mandatory units:
Engineering Contexts and Challenges:
Analysing and designing engineering systems
Understanding of the impact of engineering on society and the environment
Exploring different engineering disciplines
Electronics and Control:
Skills in developing analogue electronic control systems
Skills in developing digital electronic control systems
Design, construction and testing of electronic systems
Mechanisms and Structures:
Understanding of mechanisms and structures
Skills in developing mechanical and structural solutions
Design, construction and testing of mechanical systems
Assessment:
